Accessibility statement for National Survey for Wales – online version

This accessibility statement applies to the National Survey for Wales 2026-27 online version on https://survey.natcen.ac.uk

This survey is run by the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen), on behalf of Welsh Government. We want as many people as possible to be able to complete the survey. As well as an online version, to help improve accessibility we also offer paper questionnaires and telephone interviews with an interviewer.

In the online version, you can:

• modify the text size
• zoom in up to 200% without the text spilling off the screen
• set the language of the page to be either English or Welsh

We’ve also made the survey wording as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible the online survey is

Alternative formats (paper questionnaire or telephone assistance from an interviewer) are available on request.

We are continuing to work on making the online survey as accessible as possible.

If you have particular issues with any specific question, you are able to skip to the next question.

We know some parts of this survey are not currently fully accessible:

• Screens are difficult to navigate using just a keyboard
• You cannot skip past the navigation bar and go directly to each question when using a screen reader

Compliance status

The online survey is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

• Screens are difficult to navigate using just a keyboard. This relates to WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.1.1.
• You cannot skip past the navigation bar and go directly to each question when using a screen reader. This relates to WCAG 2.2. success criterion 2.4.1.

As mentioned above, you can take part in the survey by telephone or on paper, or with the assistance of a friend or relative. This should help the survey be accessible to most people.
